Darren MacKenzie is the proprietor of MacKenzie Builder Services Ltd. He received his Inter-Provincial Carpentry License (Red Seal) in 1995, after completing four years of apprenticeship training with various contractors in the Eastern Kings area of Prince Edward Island.

After receiving his red seal, Darren worked for various contractors, which allowed him to benefit from their knowledge and to build his skills in the carpentry field. For approximately 4 – 5 years, he also gained experience in the kitchen cabinetry and fine furniture field and was able to add these skills to his nail bag of other skills gained during his years in the carpentry trade.

From 1995 to 2000, Darren conducted over 2000 pre-purchase home inspections (for new homebuyers) and insurance inspections (for various insurance companies) after receiving training to become a certified home inspector. During this time, Darren also conducted various energy audits and diagnostic inspections for homeowners. These services were to assist the homeowners/homebuyers in solving such things as moisture-related concerns, energy efficiency, health-related concerns and building code compliance.

We feel this inspection-related experience is one of our best assets, as Darren has seen firsthand the problems which can result due to improperly-applied building techniques and building code laxness. This knowledge will assist Darren in not making the same mistakes or oversights other contractors unknowingly make.
